Dr. Samah Slim grew up in Andersonville, IL, a vibrant neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago. What he loved most about growing up there was the strong sense of community. He describes it as, “One ...of those places where local businesses know your name, and neighbors actually talk to each other. The mix of cultures—diverse, inclusive vibe—made it a special place to come of age.” Dr. Samah has great memories of walking down Clark Street, grabbing pastries from Bakery, and hanging out at the local parks. “There was always something going on, from street festivals to farmers markets. It gave me a deep appreciation for local culture and real city living with a small-town feel.”
Dr. Samah had always dreamed of becoming a healthcare provider from the time he was very young, but the moment it truly became clear that this was the right path for him was after a life-changing experience struck his own family. His mother was in a serious car accident, and struggled with chronic pain for a long while afterward. “We went from one provider to another, but nothing seemed to help—until she saw a chiropractor. That care didn’t just relieve her pain; it gave her, her life back.” Dr. Samah describes the powerful experience of watching his mom finally heal after years of suffering, and how that experience inspired his career in chiropractic medicine. He knew then that he wanted to help people the same way that chiropractor helped his mom: it gave his dream a true direction and purpose.
His patients often tell Dr. Samah that they appreciate how much he genuinely listens to them, and how he takes the time to understand not just their symptoms, but their lifestyle, concerns, and goals. He feels strongly that patients value the fact that he treats them like individuals, not just patients, and that they appreciate his gentle, yet effective approach to care. He also takes pride in explaining things in a way that makes them feel empowered and informed, and ensuring that every patients knows that he is committed to helping them feel better and stay better.
Dr. Samah defines wellness as being more than just pain-free or disease-free, it means being in balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally. He maintains his own wellness through regular chiropractic adjustments to help keep his nervous system functioning optimally and his body aligned. He also stays active by working out, going for walks around the neighborhood, and making daily movement a priority.
A healthy diet, quality sleep, and staying hydrated are all key parts of his routine. Outside of work, he finds joy and grounding through time with family and close friends. He also loves reading, and exploring new spots in the city. His relationships, hobbies, and his commitment to wellness help to remind him why he chose this profession, and the value of showing up fully for his patients.
